Resources for starting your project
The Agricultural Management Institute (AMI) provides funding for projects that develop business management and risk management tools, products, information, resources, and training for farm families, farm managers, and farm business advisors. But knowing where to start your project can be difficult.
To begin, eligible projects must clearly fall under one or more of the following categories.
-
Succession Planning and New Entrants;
-
Farm Business Benchmarking;
-
Human Resource Development and Training;
-
Business Risk Management and Beneficial Management Practices;
-
Farm Business Advisor Training and Awareness;
-
Business Management Groups and Group Practices,
AMI projects are typically those which are new and innovative and demonstrate the benefits of business planning. They are also projects which address farm business management gaps and opportunities and foster the development of producers working cooperatively and share beneficial business management practices.
They are also projects which show that producers are being encouraged to incorporate beneficial business management practices into their daily operations and activities as well as projects which develop simple and applicable business management information, products, services, resources or training for producers that enhance decisions making and farm profitability.
There are several ways you can begin considering a new project idea. The first is to submit a letter of intent directly to the AMI office. Applicants that are unsure of their idea's fit within the AMI project criteria or would like to get general feedback from AMI staff regarding their idea are encouraged to submit a letter of intent prior to completing a full application.
AMI also has 2 industry collaborators available to work with you through the application process. Please contact the AMI office directly to learn more about this opportunity.
Working with the AMI office staff or collaborators does not ensure that your project will receive funding, but it can help you to clarify what you are looking to achieve through the project, and ensure your project fits our funding guidelines.
